Gov't extends use of expired licenses until end of March

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has the deadline for the use of expired licenses has been extended until the end of March. It is the third time the deadline has been extended.

The transport ministry suspended the issuance of road vehicle licenses on January 29 in preparation for the introduction of digital licenses. The ministry said the expired licenses can be used until February 14. However, the deadline was extended until the end of February and has yet again been extended until the end of March.

The deadline was extended to address the inconveniences that the public may encounter as the new software is being replaced. The transport ministry launched the digital license service through its Savaaree Information Management System (SIMS) Customer Portal on February 5. The portal is used within the state's eFaas system. Users can log in to the portal with their eFaas login details and view their licenses digitally.

In addition to digital licenses, the ministry said other license-related services will be available to view by logging into the portal. Users will also be able to view the license application and the forms in the process.
