The National Pay Commission has revealed that the government’s initiative to restructure the pay framework for all professions is nearly complete.
At a press conference at the President’s Office, Secretary of the National Pay Commission Dr. Mohamed Faizal said that the government’s pay harmonisation initiative is nearly complete. He said that the initiative is split into different phases, which involves schools and universities and that a large part of the effort will be completed once pay harmonisation is implemented in the health sector, as these sectors have a large number of workers. He noted that the pay framework has been restructured for four professions and the health sector has over 50 specialties and more workers compared to the other professions.
Also at the press conference, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer said the pay framework has been re-structured but that it will be implemented after allocating the budget based on the economic situation. He highlighted that the initiative will harmonise the pay for all employees that have the same position at various institutions.
