The Ministry of Tourism has revealed over 60,000 tourist beds are in operation across the Maldives.
As per the latest tourism update report, a total of 60,138 tourist beds were in operation across 1,220 tourist facilities by March 1. The statistics show that a total of 41,049 beds are in operation across 168 resorts, while 14,310 beds are in operation across 886 guesthouses, and 1.640 beds are in operation across 13 hotels. Another 3,139 beds are in operation across 154 liveaboards and 10 beds are in operation at two homestay facilities.
The number of tourist beds in operation stood at 57,103 at the end of 2021, according to the tourism ministry. The government is working hard to create an environment for investors in the Maldives to increase the number of tourism beds. The positive results are also reflected in the number of tourism beds.
The number of beds in Maldives has increased while the number of tourists coming to Maldives is also increasing. Statistics show that over 1,67 million tourists visited the Maldives at the end of 2022. It is the highest number of tourists which visited Maldives since the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, a total of 375,283 tourists have arrived in the Maldives so far this year which is an increase of 25.3% compared to the same period last year. The government aims to attract a record 1.8 million tourists by 2023.
