First three segments of Ameenee Magu opened to public

Road Development Corporation (RDC) has revealed that the first three segments of the Ameenee Magu Road Development Project have been completed and are open to the public.

The fieldwork on the fourth and fifth segments is currently underway. RDC said the first three segments are open to the public, but some finishing work is also underway. As such, traffic signs and markings are being established at the redeveloped segments and an area has been closed for the installation of a stormwater drainage system.

RDC said it is currently working on constructing pavements in segment four and conducting excavation work in segment five. The area includes the block consisting of Sinamale’ flats to Imaduddin School and will be opened to the public before Ramadan although asphalt will be laid at a later date.

The contract for the redevelopment of Ameenee Magu was signed between the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure and RDC on July 3, 2022. The modernisation of Ameenee Magu, one of the main roads connecting all the wards of the city, is being carried out in 13 segments. The project involves paving the whole 1.7km length of Ameenee Magu with asphalt and installing a new stormwater drainage system. The project was contracted to RDC at a price of USD5.5 million.
