First Lady conferred highest honours by girl guide movement

First Lady and the Chief Guide of the Maldives Fazna Ahmed has been honoured with the most prestigious individual supporters award, the Asia Pacific Region Appreciation Award, by The Asia Pacific Region, World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. The honour was presented to her during Maldives Girl Guides Association's Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2022 held at The Customs Building.

First Lady Fazna received the award in honour of her immense contributions to the girl guide movement. It is the first time the award has been bestowed upon a Maldivian.

At the ceremony, the Asia Pacific Area Appreciation Award were also presented to four organisations and five individuals in the philanthropic category. First Lady Fazna presented certificates to the recipients of warrant certificates. The Girl Guide Association's commissioner certificates, service awards, and appreciation awards were presented by Chief Commissioner Niumaath Shafeeg.

In addition to two recipients of the Maldives Girl Guide Association's Appreciation Award, 75 people who have served for 5-30 years received honours during the ceremony. At the meeting, the annual report, financial report, and AGM for 2022 were also approved.
