The Maldives and India have discussed holding regular consultations between the two countries. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives Abdulla Shahid and Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. Subramanyam Jaishankar held the discussion in New Delhi, India.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid and Minister Jaishankar discussed ways to deepen the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. They also reiterated the commitment of both countries to continue working closely together, bilaterally and in the international fora, on issues of mutual interest.
Additionally, Minister Shahid expressed appreciation to India, for its continued support extended to the Maldives and highlighted the importance of regular consultations between the two countries. Minister Jaishankar thanked the Maldives and noted the successful economic cooperation and the progress of projects that are being implemented under Indian grant assistance and line of credit schemes.
Minister Abdulla Shahid is on a three-day official visit to India, to attend the 8th edition of the Raisina Dialogue organised by the Observer Research Foundation and the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
