Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture has revealed that it is gearing up to launch a web application called Dhanduveriya to share technical information with farmers.
The fisheries ministry said the application will be launched to help boost production and income of farmers. The application will allow farmers to closely interact with the ministry. The application will also provide information on climate change and field erosion as well as all the technical information needed by farmers.
Additionally, the fisheries ministry said a three-day training workshop to train staff on the use of the app kickstarted on February 21. The application will be officially launched after Ramadan. The ministry is also preparing to develop a mobile application with the same name.
The government is working to solve the challenges in the agricultural sector in the Maldives. The government is also making efforts to establish a platform to connect farmers and traders to solve the problem of not selling their produce at reasonable prices. It is five year programme to develop the agricultural sector.
