Malé City Council to open temporary market in Hulhumale for Ramadan

Male' City Council has announced plans to open a temporary local market in Hulhumale Phase II for the upcoming month of Ramadan.

The temporary market to be set up in the Hiyaa Flats area located in Hulhumale' Phase II. The City Council will allocate stalls for a maximum period of 50 days. According to the rules on the allocation of stalls from the temporary market, the stalls will be be allocated to residents living in Hulhumale'. It is not permissible to rent stalls, give them to others for profit and entrust foreigners to run the stalls.

If any violation is found during the checking of the operation of the stalls, individuals will be fined between USD12.97 and USD13.42. If the offence is repeated, the City Council will issue a notice to vacate the stall without giving any further opportunity. Interested individuals who wish to rent a stall are required to submit an application form before 1400hrs on March 11.

State Trading Organisation (STO) is also making efforts to open a store in Hulhumale' Phase II. The store offers retail and wholesale services. In addition, the store will offer regular imports from the company including, onions, garlic and eggs imported for the month of Ramadan.
