Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) has introduced an online portal containing information on the waste management system. Vice President Faisal Naseem inaugurated the Veshifaara Portal at the ceremony held to mark the seventh anniversary of WAMCO.
The online portal contains detailed information on the amount of waste collected and transferred to the waste management centres. WAMCO stated that the portal will be used to gather the necessary information on collected waste to organise the sustainable management of waste. It also stated that the portal will make the process of transferring waste to waste management centres easier.
At the anniversary function, Managing Director Yoosuf Siraj highlighted the high cost of managing waste and said that the amount of waste transported to Thilafushi has increased by 800T. He said WAMCO is preparing to bring the Vandhoo Waste Management Facility to operation as well as improve the transport of waste management from Baa Atoll and Lhaviyani Atoll and improve the waste management system in Fuvahmulah City and Addu City.
