ENDhERI project assists nine islands in Laamu Atoll

Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology has revealed that nine islands in Laamu Atoll have been assisted under the Enhancing National Development through Environmentally Resilient Islands (ENDhERI) project. These also include associations, women's development committees (WDCs), and schools.

The project is designed to assess the natural capital of the Maldives, identify ways to sustainably use these resources, and raise awareness among the industries and the general public that depend on these resources. The first assistance under this project has been given to nine islands in Laamu Atoll. These include farming, helping to market farmed produce, preparing reports on the state of the environment in the Maldives, and conducting environmental activities. A total of USD116,731 has been awarded for all the efforts carried out under the project.

Minister of State for Environment, Climate Change and Technology Dr. Abdulla Naseer handed over the symbolic certificates to the recipients at a ceremony held in Laamu Atoll. The ceremony was attended by the beneficiaries, councils, and the Laamu Atoll Council. The project will be extended to other atolls in the future.
