MDA decides not to compete in presidential election

The Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) has decided against contesting the upcoming presidential election. The decision was made at a national council meeting.

During the council meeting, Leader of MDA Ahmed Siyam Mohamed decided against competing in the presidential election. His decision is based on the political and economic situation in the Maldives.

The national council also decided to form a coalition in the upcoming presidential election. No details of which presidential candidate or which parties MDA is backing were not disclosed.
