Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to penalise the Judge of the Drug Court Mohamed Naeem and the Chief Magistrate of the Dhaalu Atoll Judicial District Ahmed Amir.

JSC investigated Judge Naeem over a disciplinary issue and decided to issue a warning, while Chief Magistrate Amir will be suspended for submitting false information in order to move to another island.

Judge Naeem was investigated in relation to messages sent to a Viber group consisting of senior officials of the judiciary, in relation to the distribution of flats for judges. JSC stated that the messages contained strong words regarding certain actions that are needed to ensure judges receive flats.

Chief Magistrate Amir was investigated in relation to using an individual to submit false information in order to relocate his place of residence. JSC stated that he had attempted to move to Kudahuvadhoo by using another person to verify false information submitted to the island council. The commission has decided to suspend him for two weeks without pay.
