Vice President urges public to help reduce road accidents

Vice President Faisal Naseem has urged the public to help reduce road accidents. He made the remark while speaking at the Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL) staff night function.

Speaking at the function, Vice President Naseem expressed concern over the rise in the number of dangerous road accidents. He said that roads are developed in Male’ and the atolls for the convenience of residents but that reckless drivers are endangering everyone else on the road. He said that reckless driving leads to fatal road accidents which result in emotional turmoil for the families of the victims.

Additionally, Vice President Naseem said that the government is heavily involved in increasing road safety. He highlighted that awareness programmes have been held since 2019 and road safety advertisements are being shown on television and social media. He, however, said that positive results can only be seen with public participation.
