MMC launches Student Journalism Programme

The Maldives Media Council (MMC) has launched its first Student Journalism Programme aimed at school media clubs and students interested in journalism.

Speaking to PSM News, Programme Coordinator and MMC Member Moosa Rasheed said the main objective of the programme is to build a generation that is interested in journalism in the Maldives. He also said the history of the country shows that existing journalists also started their careers from their school days. He, therefore, stated that MMC aims to provide training for those interested in journalism. He said the main objective of the programme is to create interest and awareness in journalism for students.

Noting the first programme is held in Ahmadiyya International School, the President of MMC Ahmed Musthafa said similar classes and training will be held in Male' and in atolls in the future. He stated some schools have already expressed their interest in the programme. He further expressed students will have the opportunity to observe the work of media stations in the Maldives during the programme.
