MDP hands over Presidential Ticket to President Solih

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has awarded the Presidential Ticket to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to contest in the upcoming presidential election on behalf of the main ruling party. The ticket was handed over by Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail at a rally held at the carnival area in Male' City attended by the leadership and members,

The primary for the MDP presidential candidate was held on January 28. The results show that President Solih won the primary election with 61.10% of the votes while Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed received 38.09%. MDP stated that the least number of complaints were submitted during this election and that none of the complaints are result-changing.

After winning the primary, President Solih said he is confident of winning the presidential election in 2023 easier than the primary.
