President’s Office seeks records of long serving civil servants

The President’s Office is seeking records of civil servants who have served for over 45 years to forward them to the National Awards Committee. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih revealed the plan at the function held to confer the National Award for Public Service.

In his address, President Solih said that the award has been conferred to 309 recipients so far but that there are still 70 individuals who have not received the award despite serving the nation for over 45 years. He said the biggest challenge they face in submitting their nominations is the lack of records, as they began their service decades earlier.

Additionally, President Solih noted that many government offices were dissolved in the past few years, which makes it difficult for institutions to gather the necessary records to nominate employees. He also said that many individuals wish to nominate themselves for the award.

Furthermore, President Solih highlighted the importance of conferring awards to those who have retired. As such, he said that the President’s Office is seeking records of civil servants who retired after 45 years of service to nominate them for the National Award for Public Service. He said that the awards committee will be meeting them individually to gather more information.
