MIFCO processes 800MT of fish per day

The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) has revealed that it is processing 800MT of fish per day.

Speaking to PSM News, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ismail Fauzee said that fishermen are experiencing a productive season, especially in the southern region, but that it also leads to issues in processing. He noted the processing capacity is 600MT per day, which is why more vessels are being brought in by MIFCO.

As such, Fauzee said that the first vessel has a 120MT capacity and will be used to process fish in the southern region. He said the vessel will come into operation in late March and that three more vessels will be brought in. He also said that the increase in fish processing began on February 14 with 850MT of fish and that each fishing boat currently catches 55MT of fish.
