Hithadhoo Shore Protection Project to be completed in three months

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated the Hithadhoo Shore Protection Project will be completed within the next three months.

MTCC is also developing a beach for the residents of the area. The problem of erosion is a major concern for the residents living in the area. Much of the island's beach has eroded and it has also caused damage to some nearby households.

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure awarded the contract to MTCC in November 2021. MTCC has been awarded the project to protect the west side of Hithadhoo at a cost of USD756,000. The scope of the project includes building a 100m breakwater, and a 570m geotube revetment.
