Chief Justice says judiciary will soon experience major changes

Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Ahmed Muthasim Adnan has revealed that the judiciary will experience revolutionary changes this year. He made the remarks at the opening of the Judicial Year 2023, held to review the judiciary's achievements in the previous year and set goals for the new year.

Speaking at the function, Chief Justice Muthasim spoke on the efforts to reform the judiciary and legal sector. As such, he said that reforming the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and the Constitution of the Maldives will significantly improve the workings of the judiciary. He expressed confidence that this year will mark the beginning of these revolutionary changes, as the administration will submit the relevant bills to the Parliament.

Additionally, Chief Justice Muthasim noted the implementation of the Civil Procedure Code last year and the Evidence Act which came into effect at the start of this year. He said that the successful implementation of these laws will be made plain once all relevant institutions are adequately trained.

Furthermore, Chief Justice Muthasim highlighted the importance of continuing the training of judges and revealed that the chief justice of Sri Lanka is scheduled to instruct in some training sessions. He assured that the judiciary will always uphold the constitution and providing justice.
