Maldivians in Türkiye in good health

Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the 14 Maldivians residing in Türkiye are in good health following the earthquake on February 6.

The foreign ministry stated that it is monitoring the situation of the Maldivians with assistance from the permanent mission of the Maldives to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Switzerland. As such, officials from the mission have called Maldivians in Türkiye to check up on their situation.

The ministry stated that 14 Maldivians in Türkiye have registered at the permanent mission and that the latest information shows that they were not affected by the earthquake and are in good health. It further urged Maldivians seeking assistance to call the ministry’s hotline 7983400 and for unregistered Maldivians in Turkiye to register as soon as possible.

The ministry has assured that the Honorary Consul in Türkiye and the permanent mission are closely monitoring the situation of Maldivians in Turkey. Maldivian Red Crescent (MRC) has also opened the opportunity to donate funds for the response and recovery efforts in Türkiye and Syria.
