Dharumavantha School and CHSE to be operational this year

Ministry of Education has revealed that the new buildings for Dharumavantha School and the Centre for Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) in Hulhumale’ Phase I will be completed by the start of the new academic year.

The government is making efforts in building seven schools in the Greater Male' Region. These include the development of the Ajial Bilingual School in Hulhumale', the new CHSE building, Salaahuddeen School in Hulhumale’ Phase I, and two other schools. The new buildings for Dharumavantha School and Arabiyya School are being constructed in Male' City. In addition, land has now been handed over from Hulhumale' for the construction of more schools.

Sharing information on the ongoing projects in the education sector, Deputy Minister of Education Ahmed Mujahid said the new building of Dharumavantha School is being completed. He said the school will be operational by the start of the new academic year. He also said the new CHSE building in Hulhumale' Phase I is being completed in August. In addition, he said Salaahuddeen School will be opened during the academic year and a private school, Ajial Bilingual School, is also being built in Hulhumale'.

The government is currently building schools with a capacity of 1,000 children. SJ Construction was awarded the contract for the construction of the new building for Dharumavantha School at a cost of over USD 4.8 million.

The new Dharumavantha School is developed as the first school under the concept of holistic education. The school will have 41 classrooms with a capacity of 25 students per classroom. The school will also include a two-storey library as well as facilities for sports and other extra-curricular activities. In addition, the new CHSE building will be constructed on 2,406 acres of land in Hulhumale Phase I. Construction of the building started in 2020.

The new Salahuddin School has a capacity of between 1000-1200 students and the building will include six floors. Ajial Bilingual School, to be built by Kuwait’s Al-Jeri Holding Group in Hulhumale', will have modern facilities, and will be run as an international bilingual school for kids in lower kindergarten through twelfth grade, providing instruction in both English and Arabic.
