Italian cruise ship arrives with over 1,600 tourists

Alliance Management Services Company Private Limited (AMSC) has revealed that the Italian cruise ship Costa Deliziosa has arrived in the Maldives with 1,620 tourists. It is the second cruise ship to arrive in Male' City in 2023.

The Italian cruise ship operated by Costa Crociere is the company's fifth-largest vessel. The 294m long cruise ship is worth about USD670 million and has a capacity of 3,000 passengers. The cruise ship carried 1,620 tourists and 800 crew members when it arrived in the Maldives.

Speaking to PSM News, Director of AMSC Azmeel Ahmed said the cruise ship arrived from India with 1,620 tourists, including tourists from different countries. He said a large number of tourists from the cruise stayed at resorts in the Maldives. He also said that the cruise ship is scheduled to stay in Male' for two days.

The Maldives Association of Yacht Agents (MAYA) said that nine cruise ships are scheduled to arrive in the Maldives so far. A large number of tourists visit the Maldives by sea and air during the peak tourist season. According to statistics published by the Ministry of Tourism, 172,535 tourists visited the Maldives in January this year which is an increase of 30.9% compared to 131,762 tourists in January 2022.
