Gov't offers 200 scholarships in accounting

Ministry of Higher Education has opened 200 scholarship opportunities for the Professional Accountants Scholarship 2023 in the Maldives. The scholarships offered by the ministry are fully funded by the government.

The scholarship scheme for training chartered professional accountants is open in two categories, including 50 places open for the public sector and 150 places for the open category. The scholarship scheme is dedicated to the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Eligible candidates will have the opportunity to study ACCA Skills Level and Professional Level courses and CIMA Management Level and Strategic Level courses.

Regarding the scholarship scheme, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan expressed hope many youths would use this opportunity. He also said that this is an important part of the government's efforts to build skilled youth. In addition, the ministry said that preference will be given to those who have completed multiple modules or those who have passed the examination for multiple modules due to a pre-designed course. If more than one candidate is tied in points, one candidate will be selected on a merit basis.

Those selected for this scholarship will be given a maximum of two years to complete the programme. If more eligible candidates have applied for the public category, their applications will be included in the open category. Candidates selected for a student loan scheme can apply for this scholarship opportunity if they do not sign the loan agreement, and if they are nominated for the scholarship, they will have to waive the loan opportunity.

The deadline for applications for the scholarship scheme is February 26. The scholarship scheme is open to interested individuals who want to pursue careers in accounting. The application should be submitted through the link: https://myedu.egov.mv/ set up by the ministry for this purpose.
