Addu City Council’s PPM member joins MDP

A member of the Addu City Council representing the main opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has joined Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

Addu City Council consisted of seven MDP members, three PPM members, and three independent members. Mohamed Faisal, who was elected to the Addu City Council with PPM’s ticket, recently joined MDP, giving the main ruling party a clear majority in the council.

Faisal handed over his membership form to the Chairperson of MDP Fayyaz Ismail at a special ceremony with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Majority Leader of Parliament Mohamed Aslam in attendance. Faisal said he joined MDP to support the developmental initiatives in Addu City.
