Gov't to conduct shore protection projects in Felidhoo and Keyodhoo

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted SAS-E Construction Private Limited to conduct shore protection projects in Felidhoo and Keyodhoo in Vaavu Atoll.

The agreements were signed by Director General at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Fathimath Shaana Farooq and the Managing Director of SAS-E Construction Saadullah Ahmed. As part of the project, MTCC will build shore protection structures in Felidhoo and Keyodhoo within 15 months at a cost of USD 2.2 million.

The scope of the project includes filling the beach area in Felidhoo with 15,000cbm of sand, establishing a 165m groyne, a 129m large groyne, and a 131m revetment. The project in Keyodhoo includes filling the beach with 20,000cbm of sand to protect the eroding area and establishing a 280m groyne and a 120m breakwater.
