ACC and Immigration sign agreement to strengthen integrity

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and Maldives Immigration have signed an agreement to strengthen integrity and reduce the threat of corruption in administrative operations and service provision.

The agreement was signed by President of ACC Adam Shaamil and Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Ahmed Hussain. As per the agreement, Immigration will support and assist ACC in investigations and both institutions will provide assistance in preventing corruption.

At the ceremony, Member of ACC Shiyama Mohamed said the agreement will enable ACC to obtain information from Immigration’s database for its investigations. She noted that cases are submitted that are related to Immigration.

Speaking at the ceremony, Controller General Hussain expressed confidence that the agreement will close off avenues for corruption. He said every institution should prioritise integrity and strict adherence to the established rules and regulations, adding that progress can only be made with honesty and integrity.
