ACC and PCB to identify areas to prevent corruption

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has signed with Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) on an agreement to work together to prevent corruption. The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at ACC by the President of the ACC Adam Shaamil and the President of PCB Asim Mohamed.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Member of ACC Thaaha Mohamed said that 883 cases have been registered with the ACC regarding companies in the past five years. He added 158 notices have been advised to be amended after the ACC investigations. He further stated the agreement with the PCB will facilitate cooperation in ACC investigations, raise awareness among employees of companies against corruption, and share experience in the field of work.

ACC said under the agreement, both ACC and PCB will provide mutual assistance in carrying out the responsibilities and responsibilities enshrined in the Constitution and the law. As such, the agreement will determine how the two institutions will work together to assist in obtaining documents and information under this agreement for the purpose of investigations into allegations against state-owned companies and to facilitate access to such information. The agreement will also determine the ways in which the two institutions will work together to implement the ACC recommendations and conduct training programmes.
