Largest floating solar park to be developed at Taj Exotica Resort

Taj Exotica Resort and Spa has signed an agreement to develop a 1.05MW floating solar park.

The agreement was signed with Taj Exotica Resort and Swimsol Maldives, a leading company in the photovoltaics business. The solar park is being developed in line with the Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) ESG Plus framework, Paathiya, for energy conservation. The project is aimed at reducing the dependence on fuel for electricity generation by 2030 and increasing energy security. In addition, the solar park will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1,189 tonnes per year and diesel consumption by 43,9000 litres per year. Taj Exotica Resort will be the first resort in the Maldives to stop using generators from 0800-1700hrs.

There are various projects in the field of renewable energy being implemented in the Maldives. The government is working to set up waste-to-energy plants in Thilafushi, Kaafu Atoll, and Addu City. The waste-to-energy plant will generate between 10MW and 12MW of electricity per day. In addition, the government is preparing to launch major projects to increase the use of renewable energy in the country. One of the most notable projects is the installation of 11MW solar panels in six areas across the country.
