Maldives committed to strengthen bilateral relations with Norway

The Maldives has expressed commitment to strengthening existing bilateral relations and close cooperation with Norway. The remarks were made by the Ambassador of the Maldives to Germany Aishath Shaan Shakir after she presented her Letter of Credence to the King of Norway Harald V as the Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Maldives to Norway at a ceremony held at the Royal Palace in Oslo.

During the Credential Ceremony, Ambassador Shaan conveyed personal greetings and warm felicitations from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to King Harald V, the government, and the people of Norway.

During her visit to Norway, Ambassador Shaan held discussions with the Deputy Secretary General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway Vegar Brynildsen to explore potential avenues of collaboration in areas such as climate change, sustainable development, waste management, blue economy, and education among others. She also paid a courtesy call on Maw Maw, the Ambassador of Myanmar and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Oslo.
