The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Maldives to the European Union (EU) Omar Abdul Razzak has stressed on the close ties between the Maldives and EU and reiterated the commitment of continuing to foster the excellent bilateral relations and close cooperation with the EU. He made the statement after presenting his Letter of Credence to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. The ceremony was held at the Headquarters of the European Commission in Brussels.
During the meeting that followed the ceremony, Ambassador Omar conveyed personal greetings and best wishes from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Meanwhile, President of the European Commission von der Leyen congratulated Ambassador Omar for his appointment and re-affirmed the positive and growing momentum in the Maldives-EU relations.
Previously, Ambassador Omar presented his Letter of Credence to the President of the European Council Charles Michel. The ceremony was held at the Headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Council on December 16.
