Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL) has revealed that the national airline, Maldivian, has begun operating one of the two ATR 72-600 aircraft recently purchased.
The national airlines brought two ATR 72-600 aircraft to the Maldives on January 4. Maldivian stated that one of the two aircraft will be put into commercial service. The aircraft will fly from VIA to Gan International Airport (GIA) in Addu. The aircraft will also fly to other domestic destinations in the future.
Maldivian brought two ATR-72 aircraft for its domestic operations. The aircraft have a capacity of 74 passengers and are equipped with modern facilities, low fuel consumption, and will lower maintenance costs.
IASL has expressed hope these aircraft will further strengthen the services provided by Maldivian. In addition, one more aircraft is scheduled to be brought in for domestic flights. It is an ATR-42 with a capacity of 50 passengers.
