President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured no political work will be done with former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. He made the remarks while addressing the campaign rally held for the presidential primary of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Recently, Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has spoken in support of former President Yameen speaking at a press conference. President Solih responded to the comments made by Speaker Nasheed saying there would not be any political work that needs to be done with Yameen. He assured such an ideology would not even be entertained.
President Solih, who was accompanied by hundreds of his supporters, spoke about the importance of a second term for MDP. He also gave details of some of the projects completed by the government so far.
A total of 57,257 MDP members are eligible to vote in the primary election. The candidates are incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed. The candidates have been holding campaign gatherings on the islands as well.
