Cambodian Prime Minister concludes official visit to Maldives

Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has concluded his official visit to the Maldives. He undertook his first visit to the Maldives at the invitation of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He was received at Velana International Airport (VIA) by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid.

The government of the Maldives held an official welcome ceremony at Republic Square for the visiting Prime Minister Hun Sen. Following the welcome ceremony, President Solih met with Prime Minister Hun Sen at the President's Office and held official talks on strengthening bilateral cooperation, followed by the exchange of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the two countries. The Maldives and Cambodia exchanged six key agreements, demonstrating a pivotal point of progress in bilateral relations between the two countries.

Moreover, President Solih and Prime Minister Hun Sen also delivered a joint statement on the outcomes of their discussions and issued a Joint Communiqué between the two countries. President Solih also hosted an official luncheon in honour of Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Furthermore, Vice President Faisal Naseem also paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hun Sen. At the meeting, the vice president described Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit to the Maldives as a crucial demonstration of the close bonds of friendship between the Maldives and Cambodia.

The Maldives and Cambodia established diplomatic relations on September 21, 1995.
