MTCC to build harbours in Feridhoo and Naavaidhoo, coastal protection in Holhudhoo

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to develop harbours in Feridhoo, Alifu Alifu Atoll, and Naavaidhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, as well as coastal protection structures in Holhudhoo, Noonu Atoll.

The agreement was signed by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MTCC Adam Azim and Director General at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure Shaana Farooq.

As per the agreement, MTCC is tasked with upgrading the Naavaidhoo harbour by constructing a 231m quay wall, a 73m revetment, and a 290m breakwater within 15 months at a cost of USD3.3 million. The state-owned company will also be upgrading the Feridhoo harbour by constructing a 213m quay wall and a 147m breakwater within one year at a cost of USD3 million. The projects include installing harbour and street lights and building pavements.

Additionally, MTCC will be constructing a 570m breakwater and a 375m geobag revetment in Holhudhoo as well a 14m quay wall. The company will be completing the project within 13 months at a cost of USD3 million.
