Gov't opens bid for 50 housing units to be built in Kudahuvadhoo

Ministry of Finance has opened the opportunity for bids for the construction of 50 housing units in Kudahuvadhoo, Dhaalu Atoll.

The state budget has allocated USD600,000 for the housing project in Kudahuvadhoo. The finance ministry is seeking a contractor to build the housing units on a design-and-build basis. All applicants are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of USD32 to participate in the bid and interested parties are also required to submit a bid security of USD17,000.

Kudahuvadhoo, which has a population of more than 3,000, has been earmarked by the government to conduct multiple development projects. As such, the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has contracted the Road Development Corporation Limited (RDC) to complete the second phase of the road development in Kudahuvadhoo. As part of the second phase, RDC will develop a 5.85km road in Kudahuvadhoo with asphalt as well as establish a drainage system and install street lights. RDC is tasked with completing the project within one year and 80 days at a cost of USD7.9 million.

In addition to modernising roads, other projects allocated for Kudahuvadhoo this year include the development of the football stadium, the construction of a new building for the atoll hospital, the establishment of a drainage system, and the establishment of a children's residential centre. About USD500,000 has been allocated from the state budget to conduct these projects. The state budget also includes funds to upgrade the Kudahuvadhoo harbour.
