Contractor to be hired soon for Thulhaadhoo Airport project

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that a contractor will be hired within two weeks for the airport development project in Thulhaadhoo, Baa Atoll.

At a campaign event in Eydhafushi, Baa Atoll, President Solih provided the latest information on the administration’s efforts to fulfill its pledge to make airports accessible within 30 minutes of travel from any inhabited island in the country. The president said that ongoing projects include the development of airports in Muli in Meemu Atoll, Magoodhoo in Faafu Atoll, and Faresmaathoda in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. He also said that preparations are being made to commence four more airport development projects.

Additionally, President Solih said that a contractor will soon be hired for the development of the second airport in Baa Atoll. He said that the administration aims to reclaim land and commence the construction of the buildings for the Thulhaadhoo Airport Development project in the middle of this year. He added that the administration also aims to make the airport usable by the end of the year.

Furthermore, President Solih shed light on the administration’s work for the past four years, which includes the development of the health sector, travel and transport, and essential services such as clean water supply, sewerage, and electricity. He noted that some are misleading the public by claiming that the administration is not making any effort and said that the numerous projects that have been initiated across the Maldives are plain to see for residents of the atolls.
