Gov't seeks contractor to build 400 housing units in Fuvahmulah

The Ministry of Finance has announced the requirement of contractors for the construction of 400 housing units in Fuvahmulah City.

The finance ministry opened bids for the project and the selection of the most qualified bidder will be conducted on the basis of the National Competitive Bidding (NCB) rules. A non-refundable registration fee of USD32 will be needed in order to participate in the bid. Payments will be accepted from January 9 to February 6 through the ministry's online payment portal, Bandeyri.

The finance ministry stated that the bid security for the project will be USD140,000. The term of the bid security is 148 days from the date of bid opening. Bids will be opened from February 8 and will be held at the finance ministry's National Tender Conference Hall.

In addition to Fuvahmulah, the finance ministry has also announced the construction of 30 housing units in Komandoo, Shaviyani Atoll, on a design and bid basis. The first housing units in Komandoo were announced in April 2022. However, the bids have now been cancelled and re-bids have been opened until January 29.

The government is implementing housing projects on many islands in the atolls of the Maldives. The construction of flats or housing units has already started in some islands.
