The state-owned Public Service Media (PSM) has announced that it will cover the upcoming presidential election in accordance with broadcasting rules and editorial guidelines.
In a press release, PSM stated that it is providing equal information and news to all parties in the ongoing competitive campaign. PSM stated that each party's campaign news will also be broadcast on the basis of the party's activities. In addition, PSM said it will be covering the news as widely as possible through social media which will be linked to hashtags and digital branding of the relevant parties. PSM said its aim is ti provide news and information to different sections of the population through as many media as possible in an equal and transparent manner.
The press release stated that all news on the election uploaded to the social media handles of PSM will not be used to support or encourage any particular party. PSM said that it aims to provide two-sided coverage of the presidential election and also urged the public not to spread misinformation that would damage the brand image of PSM.
