Gov’t to provide land plots to Male’ residents mid-2023

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has affirmed that the administration will provide 5,000 land plots to residents of the Greater Male' Region in the middle of the year. He made the remakes at a campaign rally held for the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) presidential primary in Velidhoo, Noonu Atoll.

Speaking at a campaign event in Velifushi, Noonu Atoll, President Solih highlighted the importance of the administration’s pledge to provide housing, noting that over 16,000 housing projects are ongoing across the Maldives, which includes the development of flats, row houses, and providing land plots. He added that projects are ongoing to provide 8,782 flats and 5,000 land plots to residents of Male’.

Additionally, President Solih said that the administration has commenced numerous projects to provide essential services to residents since coming to office in 2018. He said one of the most important initiatives was the development of human resources and he provided statistical data on the administration’s work to build capable young people. He detailed that the administration has developed 509 buildings with 1,578 classrooms and 85 multipurpose halls in schools across the Maldives, along with staff rooms and offices. He also said that 16,000 students are achieving a higher education under the free degree programme, while 6,519 students have graduated.

Furthermore, President Solih highlighted the developments made to the health sector, which include the construction of five tertiary hospitals and the development and procurement of equipment and resources in local hospitals and health centres in the atolls.
