More than 6,000 beds introduced to tourism by 2022 end

The Ministry of Tourism has revealed an additional 6,497 beds were released for tourism last year.

A total of 59,657 beds were allocated for tourism at the end of last year, according to the tourism ministry. By the end of 2021, the number stood at 53,160. Therefore, the number of tourism beds brought into operation in 2022 increased by 12.2%. The number of beds released for tourism reached 59,657, from 1,208 facilities.

The number of beds released for tourism has increased significantly, with 60,553 beds registered for tourism and prepared for operation. The number stood at 57,103 at the end of 2021.

The government is working hard to create an environment for investors in the Maldives to increase the number of tourism beds. The positive results are also reflected in the number of tourism beds.

The number of beds in Maldives has increased while the number of tourists coming to Maldives is also increasing. Statistics show that 1,675,299 tourists visited Maldives at the end of 2022. It is the highest number of tourists which visited Maldives since the outbreak.

The government aims to bring in 1.6 million tourists by 2022 which was achieved on December 20, 2022. The government aims to attract 1.8 million tourists by 2023, a record high.
