MMC seeks Indian assistance to train local journalists

Maldives Media Council (MMC) has met with the High Commission of India in the Maldives to discuss training opportunities for Maldivian journalists through Indian educational institutions. MMC said the meeting was held as part of the council's efforts to train local journalists.

The meeting with the Indian high commission discussed the possibility of sending Maldivian journalists to India for training programmes, bringing experts from Indian educational service institutions to the Maldives and conducting training programmes in this field. MMC also discussed short-term and long-term scholarship programmes for journalists.

Furthermore, MMC said that during the meeting the Indian High Commissioner of India to the Maldives Munu Mahawar assured that he would work to provide training opportunities to the journalists. He also said that an agreement will be signed between MMC and the Press Council of India to strengthen relations and facilitate training programmes in the field.

The meeting was attended by the President of MMC Ahmed Musthafa, council members Mohamed Afrah, Moosa Rasheed, Arman Rasheed and Secretary General Dr. Ibrahim Sameer.
