Ministry of Health has hired SASe Construction Private Limited to build hospitals in Kendhikulhudhoo in Noonu Atoll, and Hinnavaru in Lhaviyani Atoll.
SASe Construction is required to construct a 30-bed hospital on each island under a contractor finance policy, with buildings for accommodation and services. The company is required to complete the Kendhikulhudhoo project within 18 months at a cost of USD13 million and the Hinnavaru project within 18 months at a cost of USD12 million.
The government has prioritised the development of the health sector this year with a USD324 million budget. The government has also allocated USD36 million to upgrade 132 health centres and hospitals, which includes infrastructure development and adding more equipment and resources to expand services.
