Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has expressed confidence that he will win the primary election held by the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
Speaking at a press conference, Speaker Nasheed said that he decided to contest in the primary election in order to win the presidency for MDP. He noted that he is experienced in contesting in elections and that he sees no situation in which he would lose the primary election. He has submitted four complaints to MDP regarding the primary election.
Speaker Nasheed and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih are contesting in the primary election to be held on January 28.
