Maldives records highest post-pandemic tourist arrivals in 2022

Maldives Immigration has revealed that the Maldives recorded the highest number of tourist arrivals since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022.

The statistics from Maldives Immigration show that 1,675,299 tourists visited the Maldives in 2022, making it the year that saw the highest number of tourist arrivals since the pandemic. It is an increase of 34,195 tourist arrivals compared to the 1,641,104 visits recorded in 2021. The Maldives recorded 555,494 visits in 2020.

The statistics for 2022 show that 131,764 tourists arrived in the Maldives in January, 149,008 visitors arrived in February, 150,748 visitors arrived in March, 145,280 visitors arrived in April, 125,522 visitors arrived in May, and 110,889 visitors arrived in June. Additionally, 133,561 visitors arrived in July, 131,862 visitors arrived in August, 111,986 visitors arrived in September, 153,737 visitors arrived in October, 146,886 visitors arrived in November, and 184,044 arrived in December.

The statistics show that the highest number of tourists visited from India and the second highest number of tourists visiting from Russia and the third highest number of tourists visiting from the United Kingdom (UK).

The Maldives also reached the national tourist arrivals target for 2022, as the Maldives welcomed its 1.6 millionth visitor on December 20. The government has set a target to welcome 1.8 million tourists in 2023.
