Ministry of Health has contracted Optimal Investment Maldives Private Limited to construct an extension building for the health centre in Magoodhoo, Faafu Atoll.
Optimal Investment is tasked with constructing the extension building within five months at a cost of USD250,000. Magoodhoo Health Centre stated that the extension building will be used to expand healthcare services and as storage for medical consumables.
The health centre is currently open 16 hours a day with laboratory services. However, only one medical officer is staffed at the centre, which sees a daily average of 10 patients. The health centre stated that the number is increasing due to the establishment of guesthouses and the students attending the Bicocca University Outpost. It added that the government is developing the health centre to allow it to remain open for 24 hours.
