Over 2,500 types of plants donated to six islands in Haa Dhaalu Atoll

Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture has donated plants to six islands in Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

The ministry said that the plants were donated under the Food Security Programme. The ministry donated important plants that Maldivians commonly use when preparing food which include Malabar plum, breadfruit, taro and moringa. The programme will be implemented in Nolhivaram, Kumundhoo, Neykurendhoo, Kulhudhuffushi, Vaikaradhoo and Nellaidhoo with a total of 2,525 types of seeds provided, according to the ministry. The seeds will be introduced to these islands through local councils to all the households on the islands.

The ministry will be donating more plants to various islands in the Maldives under the Food Security Programme.
