Mathiveri Island Council opens for bids for tourist establishments

Mathiveri Island Council has opened the development of guesthouses and tourist hotels in Mathiveri, Alifu Alifu Atoll.

Speaking to PSM News, Vice President of the Mathveri Island Council Ali Naafiz said that the main objective of allocating land is to further expand tourism and strengthen the economy of the island. He said that 9,500 acres and 4,900 acres of land will be allocated for the development of guesthouses and tourist hotels on the island. As such, he said that 9,500 acres of land will be allocated for the development of a tourist hotel and the 4,900 acres of land will be allocated for the construction of guest houses. He also said the land plots will be allocated in a tourist area away from the public.

Additionally, Naafiz said that allocating the land will increase the tourist establishments, and the number of tourist arrivals and strengthen the services provided to them. He said that Mathiveri is a very extensive tourist island. Therefore, he believes that it is important to further expand the services provided to tourists at a time when tourism is progressing on the island. He also said that efforts are already underway to develop a modern diving school and a cultural centre on the island.

The deadline for submission of bids for the development of guesthouses and tourist hotels in Mathiveri is January 5, 2023.
