Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been contracted to build shore protection structures in Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll, and a channel breakwater in Inguraidhoo, Raa Atoll.
The agreements were signed by the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of MTCC Shahid Hussain and the Director General at the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Shaana Farooq.
As per the agreements, MTCC will be constructing a 503m revetment and a 20m groyne on the western side of Nilandhoo as well as a 429m geobag revetment on the northeast. The state-owned company is tasked with completing the project within eight months at a cost of USD1.9 million.
MTCC will also be building a 295m channel breakwater and installing two harbour navigation lights in Inguraidhoo within six months at a cost of USD1.1 million.
