Vice President inaugurates extension building at Fuvahmulah Hospital

Vice President Faisal Naseem has inaugurated the extension building and new services at Fuvahmulah Hospital.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice President Naseem emphasised that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih attaches a high priority to developing and improving healthcare services across the country. He added that as part of the administration’s healthcare sector development plan, it had built the extension building in Fuvahmulah Hospital within a short period.

Speech therapy was one of the new services introduced at Fuvahmulah Hospital. Vice President Naseem noted that it had been a long-awaited service by the Fuvahmulah community since the introduction of special education needs classes at Hafiz Ahmed School in 2013. He also spoke about the administration’s spending to develop new services and facilities at the hospital. The administration introduced dental care and dialysis services at Fuvahmulah Hospital in 2019.

Furthermore, Vice President Naseem noted the other infrastructure development projects in the city initiated by the administration, including the road construction project. He added that projects are underway to address space constraints at the city’s schools.

In conclusion, Vice President Naseem said that the administration has initiated more projects in the city over the past four years than those carried out over the previous 40 years. He also called on the management and staff of the hospital to prioritise the best possible medical care for their patients.

The new extension building of the hospital features OPD consultation rooms and a laboratory, while the new services include physiotherapy, speech therapy, and mental health services. Vice President Naseem toured the new extension block and inquired about its operations after the function.
