Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology has stated that a special centre will be established to stop cybercrime.
Speaking to PSM News, Minister of State Mohamed Shareef said the government is working on four areas to strengthen cyber security, which includes introducing digital identification cards, launching the Cybersafe Maldives awareness campaign, amending the relevant laws, and establishing a cyber security centre. He said the centre is part of the digital action plan to anticipate and counter major issues related to cyber security.
Additionally, State Minister Shareef said the centre will operate under the National Centre for Information Technology (NCIT) but that its work will be planned in accordance with the relevant laws and administrative frameworks.
